ABNS is a not-for-profit, membership organization governed by an elected group of representatives. We are focused on improving patient outcomes and consumer protection by promoting specialty nursing certification. The ABNS mission statement is, “to promote the value of specialty nursing certification to all stakeholders.”
ABNS co-sponsors one scholarship.
The Sandra Lee Schafer Scholarship (see link to right) was created to contribute toward registration and travel expenses related to participating in ABNS Conferences.
ABNS sponsors two awards for the specialty nursing certification community.
The ABNS Award for Nursing Certification Advocacy (see link to right) has been developed as a means to publicly recognize organizations/facilities/departments that advocate for or promote specialty nursing certification. We believe that such advocacy ultimately leads to quality patient care.
The Janel Parker President’s Award (see link to right) is given biennially to recognize an individual or organization within the ABNS membership that has made significant contributions to specialty nursing certification and to the association.
Awards Specific to ABNS Members are:
The ABNS Leaders’ Legacy Lecture Series (see link to right) recognizes the contributions of specialty nursing certification leaders. Through the Legacy Fund, ABNS honors their insights, contributions and dedication to nursing certification.
