ABNS is a not-for-profit, membership organization governed by an elected group of representatives. We are focused on improving patient outcomes and consumer protection by promoting specialty nursing certification. The ABNS mission statement is, "to promote the value of specialty nursing certification to all stakeholders."

ABNS sponsors two awards for the specialty nursing community.

The ABNS Award for Nursing Certification Advocacy has been developed as a means to publicly
recognize organizations/facilities/departments that advocate for or promote specialty nursing certification. We believe that such advocacy ultimately leads to quality patient care. Click here for more information.

The Janel Parker Presidents Award is given biennially to recognize an individual or organization within the ABNS membership that has made significant contributions to specialty nursing certification and to the association. Click here for more information.
