    Session 1

KEYNOTE The Humanity of Healthcare with the Assistance of Artificial Intelligence

    Speaker: Tiffany Kelley

As nurses, we have a responsibility to provide the highest quality care to our patients, families, communities, and populations at large. In today’s healthcare environments, nursing care delivery requires the use of information technology. The type and complexity of information technology tools vary from the stethoscope to the electronic health record and now the rapid emergence of advanced artificial intelligence tools. As a profession, we must also know how to innovate nursing with the effective integration of information technology, including artificial intelligence into care delivery processes. For many this may feel uncomfortable and, at times, a distraction from nursing. However, with an appreciation for where technology can and should enhance care delivery, beyond what we can do individually as humans, we have the opportunity to innovatively reimagine the future of nursing through our own lenses, as nurses. This talk will cast a vision for how we as nurses have a role and responsibility to innovate on how we will (and will not) use artificial intelligence technologies to address care quality today and in the future.

    • Objective 1: Describe the dependency of technology in nursing for the delivery of quality care.
    • Objective 2: Examine the role of innovation in nursing and healthcare to prepare for new and anticipated use of artificial intelligence.
    • Objective 3: Imagine the future of nursing with necessary action from our profession to effectively maintain humanity in healthcare.

    Session 2

    Inclusive Design in Testing

    Speaker: Anna Kate Phelan

Accommodations for accessibility have long been a part of our exam design and delivery practice, and more recently this focus has shifted to the idea of equity and inclusion – driven by the realization that making a positive change for one group is actually preferential, and/or beneficial to a huge range of test takers – making the whole process more comfortable and reducing test day nerves.

    • Objective 1: Understand the nuanced difference and similarities between accessibility, universal design, and inclusive design.
    • Objective 2: Explore the principles of inclusive design and how they can apply positively to assessment.

The Power of Collaboration: NP Certifiers Respond to External Pressure by Developing and Deploying a Program Director Survey

Panelists: Lillian Adele Foerster (PNCB), Marianne Horahan (ANCC), Denise Buonocore (AACN), Kevin Letz (AANPCB)

In response to mounting pressure from stakeholders for certifiers to update APRN eligibility criteria as the lever for changes across the LACE landscape, the certifiers collaborated to assess the state of NP education. Building on years of cooperation and communication, the power of collaboration led to an evidence-based approach to examine feasibility and understanding where NP education programs are in the adoption of recommended standards.

    • Objective 1: Discuss using a data-driven approach to assessing indicators for changes to eligibility criteria.
    • Objective 2: Describe the overall survey results for the NP Certifiers’ survey.
    • Objective 3: Articulate how collaboration across certifiers, research partner, and faculty can lead to advancing a body of knowledge.

Beyond Strategy: Foresight as an Essential Leadership Competency

Speakers: Terri Hinkley & Tony Ellis

In this presentation, we will review the concept of strategic foresight, its applicability for nursing credentialing boards and how to bring a culture of foresight to your organization. We will review the steps involved in foresight practices and review tangible activities credentialing boards can undertake now to build competency in this area. This session will also include some examples of organizations that have used foresight principles or practices in their organizations and share successes/opportunities for growth resulting from these efforts.

    • Objective 1: Introduce the concept of strategic foresight, its applicability for nursing credentialing boards.
    • Objective 2: Evaluate the steps involved in strategic foresight projects and the activities involved.
    • Objective 3: Explore examples of organizations using foresight to contribute to their strategic thinking and planning and the successes/opportunities experienced.
